The rocky shore of Windansea is a natural beach with numerous sandstone cliff formations. The scenery is fantastic with sandstone rocks acting as partitions along the beach. There are many secluded areas for sunbathing making Windansea one of the most beautiful beaches in San Diego.

Surfing is excellent at Windansea because of breaks created by underwater reefs, but is not recomended for the novice. Much of the beach at Windansea experiences shore break, a condition on steep beaches which results in hard breaking surf right at the shoreline. The popular surf breaks along this stretch are very concentrated and often quite crowded.
