When you think of “laid back” north county style, Swami’s is the place. This famous is located in front of the Self Realization Fellowship in Encinitas. SRF was founded by Paramahansa Yogananda in 1937. The locals are friendly and seem to have taken the best of the 60's and blended it to work for the new millennium.

The beach is accessible from the stairs located in the Swami’s parking lot. Swami's has good body surfing and a great place to bring the family. If you are a surfer, Swami’s has one of the best point breaks in Southern California, but please be respectful. The vibe in the water is pretty friendly but most of the folks that surf there have been doing so most of their lives. Bad etiquette in the water won’t be tolerated.

The town of Encinitas has more of a funky affluent feel, not your typical touristy beach town. If you get hungry after all that sun and fun, Encinitas has many great places to eat, from Italian to Organic and even Argentinean. There are also quite a few great little boutiques if you have the shopping bug.
