Summers Past Farms is an Herb Farm nestled in the foothills, just 30 minutes east of downtown San Diego. Marshall and Sheryl Lozier began their dream in 1992 and opened the gates of Summers Past Farms to the public. Gardening became a passion for Marshall and Sheryl when they moved to his family’s east county farm property.
Before long they built the post and timber barn which is now a retail store filled with colorful flowers hanging from the rafters. There are fragrances throughout the store of candles, herbs, provence potpourri (the scent of lavender and tangerine) and Sweet Victorian Rose potpourri.
You will discover that Sheryl has a love of cats and dogs with her collection of TY toys that fill a basket with cats and dogs and rabbits too. As you wander in the barn you will discover a collection of fairies, fairy furniture and books about them. Summers Past Farms hosts a fairy festival each year always the first Saturday in June. festival is a fun filled whimsical day that includes a fairy fashion
parade, a Fairy Tea and a garden competition of small gardens that
might attract fairies to come live in them. We love gardening
and learning about gardening and all the beautiful seasonal flowers
and herbs that grow throughout the year. We have a gardener’s
collection of books for sale one of our favorites by Pat Welsh, A
Month to Month Guide for Southern California Gardening.
Summers Past Farms is 4 acres of fragrant herb gardens, a water garden complete with a gazebo that is available for occasional weddings, a sweet pea maze that is in peak bloom in April, and a pumpkin patch in October.
Our passion has been in the garden and teaching classes on the weekends in the airy loft of the barn. Classes include making herbal vinegar, learning to make lavender products for your skin, seasonal wreaths to decorate the home, gardening classes to attract fairies and learning to grow and use herbs.
In 1993 Marshall and Sheryl learned the art of making herbal soaps and have turned that into a fun and fascinating venture. The Soap Shoppe is a gray and white barn nestled in the trees, this inviting and fragrant store awaits your visit. We make some of the finest all-natural vegetable based herbal soaps and the soft natural colors of the soaps are beautiful.
making has became a full time job for Marshall creating the soaps
and cutting them and keeping up with the demands from the staff for
always wanting to make a new scent each season. We teach soap
making classes and sell all the supplies for you to start making your
own. Come and visit us and get the inspiration to garden and
live a fragrant and beautiful lifestyle.
