The San Diego Renaissance Faire is an outdoor weekend event held every year in the lovely Balboa Park, California. The San Diego Renaissance Faire is a not-for-profit charitable event and is brought to you by The Center for Creative History, which transports you back in time to the golden age of heroes like Elizabeth I, Sir Francis Drake, and William Shakespeare and non-stop entertainment.

The Faire is a period event that recreates the Elizabethan era in the beautiful renaissance village of St. Margarets at Cliffe located at Morley Field in San Diego's Balboa Park. Morley Field turns into a fairground and you will see many tents that sell Renaissance merchandise. The San Diego Renaissance Faire is full of treasures for your pleasure. You can also buy handmade toys and musical instruments, statues, jewelry, pottery etc. The food is a specialty and you can taste exotic food like Boar's Head meats, fish and chips, corned beef and more. You can experience the taste of fine wine for which the era was so well known. You can also carry your own picnic basket but no outside alcoholic beverages will be permitted inside of the faire.

At the San Diego Renaissance Faire, you will hear Renaissance-era music and song. Enjoy arts and crafts, wandering minstrels and Queen Elizabeth’s court related to the Renaissance period. You can watch sword fights demonstrations, archery and jousting. There are eight stages of entertainment where you can see brave knights battling with swords, artists performing belly dancing and theater. If you plan to go in Renaissance costume, you will be most welcomed, but don’t take your pet along, since they are not allowed.
