On
the western edge of Cabrillo National Monument lies the Point Loma
Tidepools. These pools are host to a myriad of tidal creatures such
as Octopus, Sea Anemone, Sculpin, Starfish, Lobster, Abalone, Crabs
and many more too numerous to be named here.
The tidepools are a great place for an educational family excursion,
where children can view a real living ecosystem up close. Please be
aware that the pools are protected and do not allow collecting of
any kind and rules are strictly enforced by park rangers.
Location:
1800 Cabrillo Memorial Drive, San Diego, CA 92106-3601
For tide information contact the park at:
(619)557-5450 x 0, or (619)222-8211 (TTY).
