27
miles of shoreline, a series of inlets, grassy knolls and beaches
make Mission Bay Park the most varied of San Diego recreation sites.
19 miles of the shoreline are sandy beaches, of which 8 are official
swimming areas with lifeguard stations.
Excellent surf conditions and soft sand attract swimmers and sun bathers.
Landlubbers picnic, fly kites, play volleyball or basketball or Frisbee,
take walks, jog, or ride a bike on the 14 miles of bike paths along
Mission Bay.
There
are playgrounds for children, boat docks, and sailboat or motor rentals
for wind surfing, water skiing, or exploring the channels and islands
in the thousands of acres of waterways.
