Our exhibit, “History of Women in the Marine Corps” has
received wide acclaim as the most complete history of women who served
in the Corps from World War I to the present. On display are ten period
uniforms, photographs of women performing various assignments and
photos of female General Officers.
Highlights
of the exhibit include the flight suit of the first female aviator
in the Marine Corps, the helmet of the first female jet pilot, a display
of aviation and training memorabilia, and the General Officer “stars”
of the first female Brigadier General and Lieutenant General. This
is a “must see to appreciate” room.
Location:
Museum hours of operation are Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00AM to 3:30PM.
There is no charge for admission, but donations are welcome and support
the continuing growth of this one of a kind museum.
The
museum is located directly across the street from 8604 Miramar Road.
From I-15, proceed west for 1.3 miles and turn left into the parking
lot. From I-805, proceed east for 3.9 miles and turn right into the
parking lot.
