Welcome
to this virtual tour of the Flying Leatherneck Aviation Museum.
We know that you’ll like what you will see during this tour,
but I must tell you that it barely scratches the surface that you
will experience when you visit the “real thing.” Incidentally,
admission to the museum is free!
The number of airplanes available for viewing varies, depending on
which are undergoing restoration, but on an average day you will see
twenty five (25) historic aircraft flown by Marine Corps aviators
and maintained by their magnificent crews. These aircraft are in the
open and you are encouraged to take photographs.
We’ve utilized every available nook and cranny inside the temporary
museum facility to present a visual representation of Marine Corps
Aviation from our beginning (in 1912) through the current War Against
Terrorism. You’ll see artifacts and pictures that will educate
you and cause you to marvel at the courage and commitment of the air
arm of the world’s finest fighting force – the United
States Marine Corps.
We’re also proud to display the Commandant of the Marine Corps
Aviation Trophies, recognizing annually the most outstanding achievements
of individuals and units. These individuals and units represent the
best of the best and their achievements have been memorialized for
all time – for all visitors to see and admire.
Enjoy the tour and come see us! Check out our web site at: www.flyingleathernecks.org
for directions. We’re easily accessible from all San Diego freeways.
