This
location is called the Clam. The La Jolla “Clam” is a
grouping of cliffs in front of the La Jolla Cave. The area gets its
name from a group of rock outcroppings that are in the shape of a
clam. It was once a very popular cliff diving area until the 1990’s,
then a thirty year old no diving law was resurrected and no diving
was again enforced.
It is still a great place to view the La Jolla area with La Jolla
Cove to the south and La Jolla Marine Preserve to the North. When
the water is clear you can view the California state fish the Garibaldi
swimming in the clear La Jolla waters. There are usually seals basking
on the rocks soaking up the sun and swimming around the Clam.

Comment: I
used to go there in the 70's when I was a kid. Great memories plus
a head full of stitches!
