The La Jolla Children's Pool, is a short walk from downtown La Jolla and is best known for it’s seals and sea lions.

This small beach is set in a cove protected by a sea wall and was originally designed as a fully protected swimming area for children.

Tides and sand have filled in this area over the years and the seals have decided they love this area as a winter resting place. It offers protection from predators in the deep waters just outside of the cove for their young to frolic as the adults sunbathe on the beach.

This picturesque beach is a must-see for all visitors new to San Diego. There is a panoramic view and the seals are close enough to photograph. Watching the exploits of the juvenile mammals can easily absorb a whole afternoon.
